Intimate Wedding with A Touch of Country Feel
(Inspired by the movie - Julie & Julia)
(Inspired by the movie - Julie & Julia)
Yes, it is Saturday - the day I always looking forward throughout the week!
I went for a movie alone this morning, a new release movie "Julie & Julia" which directed by Nora Ephron. This movie is based on two true stories of Julie Powell (led by Amy Adams) and Julia Child (led by Meryl Streep). It is about the lives of two women at different time and space who found their passion in cooking when they were lost. Julia who lives in France with her husband, Paul, found her passion in cooking and later on led her to write a book "Mastering the Art of French Cooking" - teach American how to cook French cuisine in an American way. Her book has inspired Julie, a write who lives in Queens with her husband (Eric), to create her own blog about Julia's cook book. She challenged herself to accomplish Julia's 524 recipes in 365 days. She shared her insights of each dish via her blog, the ups and also the downs. Both women are very successful in their life. Their stories tell us that if a person is passionate and determined, every challenge in life will become attainable! Live up to your dreams, my dear readers. That's why I am here in front of my laptop and start blogging about my passion - Wedding Planning! I am here to share one of your most important moments in life.
Bon Appetit! (Julia Child's favourite quote)
Sound unrelated to my wedding planning blog? Absolutely NOT.
The movie inspired me about the idea of having an INTIMATE WEDDING WITH A TOUCH OF COUNTRY FEEL. Here you go!
1. Reception venue
Rooftop party ~!
If not, you can always ask your friend who is willing to lend you a place for your wedding celebration party (how about a backyard of the house? Sounds good!)
In Julie & Julia movie, Julie and her husband threw a celebration party in conjuction of her completion of Julia Child's 524 recipes in 365 days. The NYC's skyline lends a beautiful backdrop for the celebration. Of course...not to forget the surrounding strings of LED lights that bring up the romantic atmosphere.
In your wedding, you may hang lanterns in different sizes and shapes around. The glow of the lights can really create the romantic atmosphere and your guests could mingling around while enjoy the dinner. See pictures below.

2. Table settings
Homey feel ~!
You want your guests to feel relax and comfortable at your reception.
1st: Let's bring out the simple plaid, or any kind of table cloths you used to have at home!
2nd: Get a simple vase filled with your favorite flowers. It can be sunflowers, roses, peonies, tulips, hydrangeas, carnations...make sure to use FLOWER IN SEASON, that will save you a fortune for importing special flowers from other places. If you would like to use your grandpa's antique vases, go ahead! Your grandpa will be glad to hear that you appreciate his antique collections very much. This will add another meaningful personal touch to your wedding.
3rd: Serve with your style using colorful dinnerware (work with your wedding color theme!).
Here are some dinnerware found at Macys.com.
4th: Drink the "French Way"! Just like Julie did.
Here are some glassware found at Macys.com.
Your guests will appreciate your well-thoughts because you do your best to make them feel like home!
Happy Planning!
